The Full Story
I have three years of work experience as a graphic designer. After learning more and more about this field, I came to the Academy of Art University to continue to explore graphic design and solve more meaningful problems.
Now I'm working on a project that promotes the human-pet relationship and helps people choose the right pet by assisting potential owners in learning about which pet would be best for their living situation, needs, and lifestyle. Knowing the right way and being well-prepared before adopting a pet can increase responsibility and reduce the likelihood of pet abandonment. Adequate preparation and knowledge can also help people detect potential problems early and respond when raising pets in the future. I want to use graphic design to create unique visuals combined with diverse deliverables to communicate with potential pet owners to help them understand pets and how to live with them.
My primary motivation for bringing up this topic is that I love pets and have adopted some stray animals. Along the way, I connected with shelters and pet rescue organizations. Not only have I learned about the financial pressures and staffing shortages they face due to the significant number of pet abandonment, I have also witnessed so many pets being abandoned. People abandon their pets for a variety of personal reasons, as well as unknown ones, but most cases can typically be traced back to their owners not having fully considered the responsibilities of pet ownership before getting pets, making them more likely to give up their pets.
So I want to use graphic design to educate potential pet owners on the right mindset and approach to choosing, caring for, and living with a pet.
